COV RATINGS

Sunderland were utterly torn apart by a vicious Coventry City side away from home. Two goals in seven minutes from Haji Wright in the first half turned out to be a death blow after we’d never really got going, and then the American completed his hat trick following the interval. This was, by a mile, our worst performance of the season so far.

ANTHONY PATTERSON: 5/10

Made a good save in the second half and I don’t think he can be blamed for the opener. Definitely no fault for the second. He does have a share of the responsibility for the third however.

TRAI HUME: 4.5/10

Got a stupid booking again, although his tackling wasn’t terrible today aside from that. Struggled to challenge his opponents physically today, but that was pretty much everyone.

CHRIS MEPHAM: 3.5/10

Gave the penalty away, there is an argument that he was put in a difficult position though.

LUKE O’NIEN: 5/10

Probably one of our slightly better players today, somewhat impressive for a defender. Saying that, he didn’t flatter himself for the first goal.

DENNIS CIRKIN: 4.5/10

Struggled going forward and was far from good at the back. Wasted a good opportunity in the box.

PATRICK ROBERTS: 4.5/10

Managed to get a few dribbles away but contributed very little of substance. At least the work rate was there, more so than most today.

DAN NEIL: 3/10

Awful, was rarely successful when challenging for the ball and gave it away more often than not with poor passing when he was on the ball.

JOBE BELLINGHAM: 4/10

Similar to Neil, didn’t really have an impact but was marginally better trying to win back possession or get the ball up the pitch.

ROMAINE MUNDLE: 4/10

Isolated, other than being helped by Mayenda. When he did get into a good position, he always messed up.

CHRIS RIGG: 5/10

A bright first twenty minutes, followed by a timid performance.

ELIEZER MAYENDA: 5.5/10

His head dropped not long into the second 45 but his frustration was understandable with a lack of support. Did well to come away with the ball a few times but only had one decent effort all game.

SUBS:

WILSON ISIDOR: 5.5/10

Fought well for possession and had a decent chance on goal. No end product ultimately however.

TOMMY WATSON: 4/10

He just never really got going. Lost the ball at least twice.

JENSON SEELT: 5/10

Looked shaky and nearly made a couple of errors but he did quite well after he got going. Not a nice one to be thrown into after returning from a long term injury.

ALAN BROWNE: 4.5/10

Didn’t make an impact in Coventry’s half and was barely acceptable out of possession trying to get the ball back.
