BECAUSE OF AMY

My name is Natasha Hill and our daughter Amy met Ewing’s Sarcoma the day after her 18th birthday. Prior to her diagnosis, Amy had experienced ongoing symptoms for a period of time, and sadly her cancer was only discovered once it was already advanced. Amy passed away in October at just 19 years old.

Since losing Amy, we have launched the Because of Amy petition to raise awareness of potential cancer red flag symptoms in young people and to campaign for improved, standardised and regularly updated GP training around cancer recognition and referral guidance.

The petition aims to encourage earlier recognition and investigation of serious symptoms in young people, helping to improve awareness of when symptoms may require further assessment or referral.

We are currently trying to reach 10,000 signatures to trigger an official Government response, with the longer-term aim of reaching 100,000 signatures for the possibility of a Parliamentary debate.

Amy was kind, funny, and full of life, and we are determined to honour her memory by trying to create positive change and raise awareness through her story.

We would be incredibly grateful for any support, guidance, or help in sharing Amy’s story and raising awareness of the petition.
