The author Pauline Waters together with her grandchildren has created a story centred around Sunderland Stadium of Light. The seagull Stanley follows the children as they complete the trail finding the grounds used by the Sunderland football club over the years They finish their journey watching a game at the Stadium of light. The illustrated book can be enjoyed by all ages
Pauline Waters said, "I’m writing this review on behalf of grandchildren who enjoyed reading the book very much. They identified with Stanley and his baby. Also in their imaginative world any one can make any journey to anywhere!! The children were drawing seagulls going to places like the Cat and Dog Steps and South Shields for chips and along the way they called him Stanley. I decided to take photos of their drawings and make it into a booklet for them with the adventures in. We have a great love of reading and writing creatively in our family, as well as for Sunderland, and it’s so important for children to explore their imaginations.”
