Regis Le Bris was level-headed and pragmatic following his side's defeat at Hull. It wasn't the most encouraging performance, but he knows there's still time to get ready before we host West Ham in the first game that actually matters in terms of results.

TRUST THE PROCESS

“I think pre-season is set to create new experiences with many new players and so I think this evening we showed that in different phases we are getting better. We made mistakes but that is part of the process to find the right balance between taking risks and playing a bit safer when it is needed. We can speak about the first goal we conceded, for example. But it is good in this stage of the season to push a bit more and to find the right balance.”

ADINGRA GOAL

“You always need time and experiences with your teammates to find the right references. It is a good example, this connection between the crosser and the receiver in the box. Today, it was done and I hope we will have more good experiences like that sooner.”

COACHING STAFF

“We try to improve every area in our club. On one side we have the team and on the other side we have the coaching staff, and I think this connection is getting better with experiences. We are tough on ourselves and we will be tough on our players because we have to be demanding in our project and the league requires this level of demand. Experiences are experiences, and we are getting better.”

ONTO REAL BETIS

“We will have to be ready for the first (Premier League round). Before that, we will have a different level of fitness, we will have a different level of connections between players and we will add new players a bit later. So, it is all about creating new habits between players and we need time. At the minute the most important thing is not the final result because we changed the whole team after 65 minutes. It doesn’t mean that the team is good or not, it is about behaviours, involvement, connections, new experiences, and we will learn. Hopefully we will be ready for the first round.”
