RATINGS V HULL

Sunderland advanced to the fourth round of the League Cup via a 1-0 win over Hull City at the Stadium of Light. Chemsdine Talbi’s second half chip made the difference in the end.

MELKER ELLBORG: 7/10

Looked a bit unsure of himself at times, and wasn’t very busy, but he kept a clean sheet so you can’t judge him too harshly.

TRAI HUME: 9/10

Played brilliantly, cut out any danger before it really ever materialised and broke forward on a number of occasions too.

LUKE O’NIEN: 8/10

Had one or two half dodgy moments but played really well overall and did what he had to. His through balls let him down a bit.

OMAR ALDERETE: 8/10

Good defensively, missed a few opportunities to play the ball to Malick Fofana though.

DAYANN METHALIE: 7.5/10

Debut nerves showed in the first 45 minutes at times but looked much better after the break.

CHRIS RIGG: 8/10

Created loads of chances but struggled a tad when things got physical, maybe played himself into a bit of bother as well sometimes.

JULES AHOKA: 8.5/10

Could have easily had a goal and looked so calm and collected for somebody who hasn’t even reached 10 career games yet.

JOCELIN TA BI: 7.5/10

Lively in the opposition box but lacked a bit of quality in the decisive moment. He looked really positive, particularly following the break, with his dribbling.

CHEMSDINE TALBI: 9/10

Very nearly scored in the first half and scored via a fantastic chip in the second. That goal sparked a lot of confidence and he looked very lively after it. Had to come off due to cramp (hopefully nothing more serious than that).

MALICK FOFANA: 8/10

He had a really quiet first half, in which he could have been a bit more proactive with crossing the ball but the service to him was terrible. Really good after half time when he started receiving the ball more often and he could have easily notched himself an assist.

WILSON ISIDOR: 7/10

Had three shots that didn’t really cause Hull any nerves, positioned himself well though.

THOMAS MEUNIER: 8.5/10

A great ball to Talbi for the goal and defended effectively.

ALAN BROWNE: 7.5/10

Not a lot of time on the ball but did what he was called upon to do with no issues.

TIMUR TUTEROV: 6.5/10

Looked positive, had one half chance, and it’s good to see him make his senior debut.

TOM PROCTOR: N/A

He did well, and another debutant from the academy tonight, but it’s hard to rate him on four touches and only a few minutes.
