Regis Le Bris has said that both Romaine Mundle and Aji Alese are looking less likely to feature in Friday night's 1st leg of the play offs against Coventry. There is some slight hope that this could be RLB keeping his cards close to his chest since last week he also said Mundle and Alese we're close.
NO MUNDLE/ALESE
“I don’t know exactly who will be available but I don’t think we will quite have a full squad. I think it will be a little bit soon for Romaine and also for Aji to be involved in the first leg. Most of the squad will be available. Romaine and Aji can hopefully be involved on Tuesday night.”
DIFFICULT CONVERSATION FOR WHOEVER IS BENCHED?
“Not really, we are all involved in the same objective. We know that if we have different options to face different challenges, hopefully across three games, we will need everyone. These players are proud of what they have done so far and they have done it as a team and a squad. We have been a unit with different starting XIs, different subs. We have done everything as a group. Some players may be disappointed for the first leg, maybe, but after that they will switch on really quickly.”
As mentioned in the intro, this could end up being a ruse from RLB to keep Coventry guessing. In his pre Oxford press conference he said this about Mundle and Alese:
"The week before the play-offs we will have Romaine, probably one or two more players but we'll have to wait. For Ballard he will be available for next Sunday. (Seelt) is available now. (Alese) has the same target as Mundle."
That said, given the amount of set backs our injured players have had this season, there is every chance he is telling the truth and they won't feature. Regis hasn't been one to rush a player back from an injury so I guess we'll just have to wait and see on Friday!
