Regis Le Bris firstly praised the way Dan Ballard has managed the step up to the Premier League, before also discussing Luke O'Nien's inspirational journey from non-league to the top flight.
BALLARD
“He is really close to the squad. He started the season, got an injury and after that another player came in and played well, which is positive for us as a squad but positive for him as well because competition is needed at that level to push the players. The dynamic is positive because he plays to a high level and is ready to play, so for the manager I think it is positive.”
BIG DAN
“He fits really well with this league. It was the case in the Championship and again I think he is showing now that he can be really good in the Premier League, which is positive for him and the club. He is still young, he needs time to grow and connect with this new experience. At the same time, we trust him because when he had the opportunity to play he showed that he was really good.”
LO9 JOURNEY
“Luke is a really good example of what we want to build as a club. We want to learn. You have your own skills, your own journey and your background, but his mentality is absolutely fantastic. He wants to learn every day and wants to connect with his teammates. He knows that he needs a strong collective to be a good player and he shows every day this willingness to learn. He sets a really good example for us.”
CHAMP VS PREM
“I don’t remember that it was easy last season, never! It is always like that. Maybe it is the mindset of English teams, they believe they can win against every opponent. That was already the case last season (in the Championship) so now, with more quality, it is obvious that it will be tough.”
SAME MINDSET
“We have to stay really consistent through positive and negative results because we are a young squad and we’ll face tough challenges. I hope we won’t lose many games by three, four or five goals because that is possible in this league and we have to accept that challenge. Ups and downs are part of the process. Resilience and consistency is absolutely needed because otherwise the mood can influence your output. We have to stay consistent and accept the challenges.”
