Sunderland have kept their European football hopes alive via a 3-1 win away at Everton. Dependent on results elsewhere and how we get on against Chelsea, we now stand a chance of either Europa League or Conference League football in 2027/28. The home side took the lead just before the end of the first half but second half goals from Brian Brobbey, Enzo Le Fee and Wilson Isidor allowed us to pick up all three points.
ROBIN ROEFS: 8.5/10
Made a humongous save whilst it was 2-1 to ensure we stayed ahead with less than five minutes of non-stoppage time left. Wasn’t massively busy other than that.
LUTSHAREL GEERTRUIDA: 8.5/10
A solid shift from him today, effective at the back and always came away with the ball after battling for it.
NORDI MUKIELE: 7.5/10
He’s had better games at the back but he did nothing fantastically wrong.
OMAR ALDERETE: 6/10
Brought off in the first half after an injury, hopefully nothing that will affect his ability to play at the World Cup in a month’s time, but hadn’t really done anything or had to have done anything beforehand.
REINILDO: 8/10
Defensively sound and helped get our attacks going a few times.
GRANIT XHAKA: 8.5/10
I thought he positioned himself really well to make a few key interventions, he got unlucky for their goal.
NOAH SADIKI: 7/10
A quiet one from him overall but he made no major errors.
TRAI HUME: 6.5/10
Also had an uneventful afternoon. A bit weak in duels and his passing was inaccurate at times.
ENZO LE FEE: 9.5/10
Set up the first and scored the second, you don’t really need him to do much more than that but he played well other than these two key things too.
NILSON ANGULO: 7/10
Got unlucky once or twice after looking bright. Definitely had a better first half than second though.
BRIAN BROBBEY: 8.5/10
What an amazing showcase of strength for our equaliser, didn’t have much come off for him other than that but we didn’t need to.
SUBS:
LUKE O’NIEN: 9/10
Probably our best defensive player. Decision making top notch and didn’t put a foot wrong in his execution.
CHEMSDINE TALBI: 6/10
Most of the play went down the opposite flank, so he only made five touches and didn’t have a chance to do anything really.
HABIB DIARRA: 8/10
A great bit of play to assist the third goal, which was his only major involvement in the game.
CHRIS RIGG: 8/10
Also notched an assist and was involved a lot in the end stages of the match.
WILSON ISIDOR: 8.5/10
Scored a goal to wrap things up, no other comments needed.
