LE BRIS ON HULL
Regis Le Bris spoke after our win over Hull City in the League Cup. He was pleased with how the debutants played and was happy that we are moving onto the next round, also commenting on our squad depth with four fronts to fight on this season.
GOOD TO WIN
“It's good to win, especially at home. We know we want to rebuild this fortress this season, it’s never easy because we knew before that Hull were unbeaten and didn’t concede any goals. It was a good challenge, I think the lads showed good energy. It started well, there was probably a lack of references, shared references because it was a new team and you can train together but the competition is totally different. At the beginning of the second half, where I think they were really good, we imposed our intensity, our intentions and the goal was beautiful.”
DEPTH
“We are building this layer, it’s important for the club in general but also for the season with four competitions, we’ll need this depth. You can build this experience through competitions and I think this one was perfect for that. For the players, they can build their confidence and their connection with the squad.”
TALBI
“He’s got this space, this ability to exploit wide areas and big spaces in behind. He can carry the ball as well, he has this quality. I think in this pocket, when we regain possession a bit deeper, he is really good and he has this ability to finish after, I don’t know, 50 metres. It was a really long run and you still have to be composed and he was.”
THREE NEW SIGNINGS
“They are connected well with the lads I think but the reality and the truth is always on the pitch. I think they showed their personalities and their qualities.”

“They were really positive in the US tour, they connected from that point and showed good character. They are good teammates first of all and they deserve to start, to gain those first minutes. It’s positive for the club, it’s positive for them as well.”

“Step by step, we started the week with Hull and they were unbeaten, it’s done now. The next step is going to be Arsenal and we’ll prepare properly. Later, we’ll see.”
