Regis Le Bris, prior to our game against Liverpool, has been asked about the game against Arsenal. Whilst happy with the performance level, and the improvements in the squad's game since the start of the season, he's recognised we need to improve in certain areas.
PERFORMANCE AGAINST ARSENAL
“To be fair, I think we played the game we wanted to play. We are bold and aggressive in our high press. I think our mid-press was better than if you compare with our first game at home. Our deep press was good as well but they found solutions to shoot outside of the box, which is a good solution against a deep block. We had good control of the ball, with 50% of possession, which I think is positive, but the main difference was the level of threat. I think they were good at that, they created five or six chances, always with the ability to score, and maybe we created one and a half - which is the main difference. So, positive in a way because we know where we are in our journey, and it shows we are getting better through this league, but there’s still a long way to go to achieve this kind of challenge.”
PROGRESS SINCE START OF SEASON
“I think it’s really positive and the confidence is getting better. We now have more solutions to fix different problems. We also have more threats because, even if we didn’t score, we feel that it’s now possible to use different options. It’s a learning process, I’m happy from this side, but the score is the score and we have to accept defeat.”
OPPOSITION QUALITY MEANS MISTAKES COSTLY
“On the pitch and then on the bench as well, after 60/65 minutes. We tried to control Trossard or Jesus and then you have two or three other big players coming off of the bench, you know it’s going to be tough but this is the Premier League. This final part of the game is probably the most difficult and, especially away I think, because we are good at home with this extra drive, this extra confidence. Away is a bit more difficult, we know the objective, the challenge and we are working hard to improve it.”
