Lorik Cana has been chatting about his return visit to the Stadium of Light. Cana was introduced to the fans at half time on Sunday and was impressed with the performance against Aston Villa.

“It was really special. Being back here after 15 years feels really special especially after being back when the Club is in the Premier League where it belongs. This was the most important thing, getting the Club back on track,” Cana said. “As I’ve said in the past, the most difficult thing is to start that when you are up there. You have to be prepared, as sustainable as possible and try to be at that level because the competition is so high.”

INVESTMENT

“We see some big Clubs coming up from the Championship that really struggle to stay there but since Kyril took the Club, he is trying to do it in the best way. We’ve seen the campaign up to now with the players, the amount of money that’s been put in. Everything has to be made, not only on the financial side but to bring back the right mentality and to be aware that it’s going to take a lot to stay in that competition.”
