Here’s Phil Parkinson's pre-Burton Albion press conference in full…
On Coventry draw
"We needed everybody to keep playing and to get a goal from the bench, which we know there is impact from the substitutes, is so important, especially when we have had a lot of games. It was a huge lift for everybody. It was only a point, but it was important for us."
On the importance of a last-minute equaliser
“Games change in the last few minutes and for us to have the mentality to be the team that changes the course of the game is good for us. I thought the energy levels in the team were excellent when you bear in mind we played 120 minutes on Tuesday and had a long trip back and Coventry had a long week to prepare for the game. I was pleased with a lot of aspects but obviously you would like the three points. We kept going, showed good mental toughness and got our rewards at the end. It is that belief that if you keep doing the right things then the moment will come. Sheffield United was an example yesterday. 2-0 up, 3-2 down, could have felt sorry for themselves but found a last minute equaliser and you have got to have that resilience in the team. Obviously the idea is to get the first goal and we will be attempting to do that tomorrow.”
On playing at the Stadium of Light
"I really don't think it is a difficult place to play. If you run around and show honesty then the supporters get behind the team. It’s an excuse to say the Stadium of Light is a difficult place for us to play. I have spoken to a lot of supporters, I have done a few functions, I have stood on the touchline. You can see the supporters are desperate to get behind the lads if they show commitment and bravery in their plan. Then our fans will get right behind us."
On Benji Kimpioka and Will Grigg
"Benji made a good contribution from the bench. We are pleased with that and with tired legs towards the end of the game he was the perfect one to bring on. He is doing everything he can to push himself into our thinking. That is all we can ask for a squad player. He trained well, his feet are firmly on the ground and he is knocking on the door. When the chance comes he has to be ready to make a statement again. Griggy has got to keep going, concentrate on his all-round game, keep getting in the right areas, concentrate on his movement in the box and then the moment will come for him."
On the League One table
"The international break when we didn't have a game, and the other teams won, then you are going to inevitably drop down and the gap is going to widen. We are going to have a backlog of games and fall behind but we know where we have got to get to when it comes to points per game, we know what we have got to do and we know tomorrow is an important match. It is important we put in a performance because after tomorrow there is a 10-day break and that is the first opportunity we will have to work with the players over a sustained period of time. It is a big night for us tomorrow and we are looking forward to it."
On Burton clash
"We have got to build on the momentum of the last minute equaliser at the weekend. It is a 'must perform well' game, play to the best of our ability and look to win three points. They will play 4-3-3 so we know their personnel. I have managed against Nigel several times and he is a very good manager who sets his teams up extremely well. We are confident we know how they are going to play but as I said to the lads this morning, it's about how we play and how we can improve on Saturday to take us to the next level. Any game you go into you go out to win. When people say it is 'must-win' that creates tension. It is a 'must perform to the best of our ability' game. We want to concentrate on the factors we feel are important against Burton, take the positives from Saturday and improve on them and then hopefully we can go to another level which will result in three points.
Message to Sunderland fans
"Keep playing your part. It is a team game. It is not just the team. The staff, the supporters, everybody that is in the ground has to play their part in helping us get the points tomorrow that will be crucial and get us right back in the mix."
