Grimsby Team Predictions

I’m predicting eight changes to the line-up following our embarrassing defeat at Lincoln? Here goes…

GK: Lee Burge. No one will be surprised with this one. Burge is clearly the cup keeper and McLaughlin could do with some time away from the limelight.

RB: Conor McLaughlin. With O’Nien making a bit of a name for himself further forward, McLaughlin is our only senior right back.

CB: Tom Flanagan. Lynch and Willis have played a lot recently and Flanagan should be determined to work his way into the team again.

CB: Alim Ozturk. Like Flanagan, Ozturk will be chomping at the bit to get back on the pitch.

LB: Denver Hume. Laurens De Bock has played a lot after no pre-season and had a shocker against Lincoln. It’ll be beneficial for him to be dropped for this one, and Hume could do with starting for the first time in a while.

CM: Bali Mumba. Mumba impressed last season, particularly the start, in a limited number of games. He hasn’t had much time to shine this season with our embarrassment of riches in the centre of the pitch.

CM: Grant Leadbitter. If Mumba starts, it’ll make sense to have an experienced head next to him in Leadbitter. Against League Two opposition he should be able to dictate play.

RM: Duncan Watmore. With Watmore rumoured to be back and injury-free tonight, it seems like the perfect low-pressure game to reintroduce the winger/forward.

LM: Chris Maguire. When he’s on form, Maguire can totally control a game. Granted he wasn’t great against Lincoln, but against a supposedly “lower” opposition he should be afforded another opportunity in the side.

CF: Luke O’Nien. O’Nien deserves a rest after his constant energetic performances, but there’s no one in the squad who does the role he does.

ST: Will Grigg. Grigg’s horribly out of form, so a start against Grimsby may allow him to gain some goals and confidence.
