Jewison Bennette has found chances hard to come by on Wearside so far, but after a bright cameo on Saturday and a brilliant display for the Under 21’s on Sunday, could this be the Costa Rican’s time to kick on?
Arriving last summer as a very much unknown quantity, many Sunderland fans were intrigued to see how he would perform. He didn’t take too long either to make an impression, scoring the equaliser against Watford on just his second appearance, immediately making popular amongst fans. However, other than a well taken goal against Fulham in the FA Cup, he has struggled to get many opportunities to impress.
This has been due to a couple of reasons, the first being the fact he had just arrived in a brand-new country, a country in which he does not speak the language of. This meant Mowbray had to give Jewi a lot longer to settle in, with him at the time being the only Spanish speaker at the club.
