TONY MOWBRAY TALKS FRIENDLIES


Tony Mowbray has been speaking about the club’s plans for the upcoming friendlies, including the double header, USA tour and hints towards some young academy players featuring in the double header. Mowbray also talks about the positives of getting new faces in early in pre-season and alludes to potential new faces before the window shuts.


DOUBLE HEADER

'We’ve got like an internal friendly this weekend (1st and 2nd July) just mixing everybody up just to get them used to laying on a big pitch again, moving the ball around and obviously it won’t be overly competitive because we don’t want to be tackling each other too hard. So our first competitive fixtures, I think two on the same day against South Shields and Gateshead next weekend and we’ll mix the teams up. Again for us it’s about the fitness really, the more competitive games and the local teams will want to do well and there’ll be crowds in. So we will mix the teams up as I said and there’s gonna be some pretty inexperienced footballers playing against, alongside some footballers who have had lots of football last year. But it’s mainly about getting 90 minutes into their legs. The staff will watch both games, obviously because of the timingone’s late morning, one's late afternoon and we will watch both games.
