THE REVENUES DON'T MATTER EITHER!

Oh what a wry smile I had when I read this blog. It’s nothing new. Remember we played (well we turned up) Shrewsbury midweek and Wigan etc etc last season.

But what I cannot understand is that the league makes no attempt to protect every club’s revenue. And with Sunderland being a ‘big fish’ I’m talking here about the smaller clubs. Playing Ipswich (yeah in financial terms they are smaller) away midweek means reduced revenues for the Tractor Boys when we would probably sell our allocation if it was a Saturday. Lord knows having been to see us at Bristol Rovers away on a Tuesday night I couldn’t help thinking we would have double the attendance if it were on a Saturday.

And don’t get me started on travel difficulties. A few years ago in the giddy heights of the Premier League we played West Ham at home on a Sunday at 4. Guess what. The only train available to the Hammers fans would see them into King's Cross at 7 the following morning.

It is clearly beyond the wit of those who set the fixtures to do so with revenue in mind. Dopes.
