STEWART REFLECTS ON HULL WIN

Updated: Jul 13, 2023

After finding the back of the net, Ross Stewart spoke about scoring at the SOL, having fans back and looking ahead to the season.

GOOD WIN

"It’s obviously a good win against a Championship team who are a league above us so it puts us in good stead. It kind of shows us where we’re at and it sets us up nicely for going into the league next week."

SCORING

"It was a great through ball from Embo and as a striker I was just concentrating on hitting the target and obviously it’s great to hit the net. I hadn’t scored in pre-season so to get that one sets me up nicely as well going into next week."

FANS BACK AT THE SOL

"Obviously, it’s great to have fans back tonight and hopefully we’ll have them here next week and hopefully, with it being a big crowd and it being the opener we can perform well and send them home with a win."

PRE-SEASON

"It’s been good, obviously I’ve had my difficulties fitness-wise since I’ve came to the club so to get that full pre-season under my belt has done me the world of good. I’m feeling good, I’m feeling fit and sharp, so hopefully I can take that into the league and stay healthy and do well."

PLAYING STYLE

"That’s come from the gaffer and his philosophy and how he wants us to play this year. We’re pressing high as a team and it’s worked well for us and obviously tonight it showed that when we get it right, we can hurt teams with the transition and it’s a great through ball from Embo. Hopefully we can score many more goals like that this year."

LOOKING FORWARD

"Pre-season's always tough, it’s just part of football, you’ve got to deal with it. The lads have done really well and I think you can see with how well our fitness levels are and we can take that into the league now and just use it as a base to go and hopefully have a really good season."
