Patrick Roberts says we were poor at both ends of the pitch last night and thinks the players need to do a lot better to turn our form around.
TAKE ON THE GAME
I think we started slow, I think we knew what they were coming to do. We said it all week, they’re going to be tight, they’re going to be compact and they’re just going to keep us as far away from their goal as possible. We’ve not produced anything in the final third, we’ve got to be a lot better all of us, me included. It’s our job, especially at home, to put balls into the back of the net at the end, obviously not conceding again. I think at both ends we were not great tonight, let two silly goals in and not scored enough and it kills you and then we’ve got a big game on Saturday to go and get ready for. We’ve got to recover and get our mind right and go again.
LESSONS TO BE LEARNT
Yeah definitely, it’s a young squad but it only gets you so far, you’ve got to be accounted for. Myself, I’ve got to be accounted for and all the lads they’ve got to be accounted for as well and fans don’t come all this way to see us get beat at home. Us, as players, and the manager obviously we know it’s not good enough and we’ve got to turn it around.
ATTENTION TURNS TO MILLWALL
Yeah it’s going to be tough, going away from home. It’s always a cagey atmosphere, we went there last time and we nicked something so this time we’ve got to be a lot better. We’ve got to get that form back, identity we have as a team and everyone turn around, got to be ready. When called upon, we need to produce. That’s what we need to do and turn this losing streak into a winning one. Going towards the Christmas period it’s going to be tough but we’ve got to fight, we’ve got to go for every point that matters.
SELLOUT AWAY END AT MILLWALL
Yeah, of course, the fans are great, even tonight. They come in their numbers and it was a cold one, it was a cold one tonight and they are still here supporting us on. We don’t take that for granted and we know we can do a lot better. From all the lads, we’ve got to just pull together and get the performance on the pitch. The fans are proud and happy to support us home and away. We’ve got to recover now, like I said and go again on the weekend.
