ONES TO WATCH: BORO

Craig Johns from Gazette Boro was kind enough to give us a rundown of Middlesbrough's five players to keep an eye on today. Last time we spoke to him, they battered us 4-0 so hopefully it's a bit different this time out.


LUKE AYLING

The veteran right-back has had a solid start to life at Middlesbrough after joining on loan from Leeds United but faces his toughest test yet against Jack Clarke. As is so often the case, Clarke will be the man Sunderland want to get on the ball to influence matters and make things happen and while Boro will likely have a plan in place to support Ayling, there will ultimately be a lot of responsibility on him to try and nullify the Sunderland star man in much the same way Tommy Smith managed to in the reverse fixture.


HAYDEN HACKNEY

Boro's homegrown star, Hayden Hackney is an England under-21 international being heavily scouted by the Premier League's top-six. A future star in their eyes, he's already a star in this Boro team. The man who makes everything tick for Boro, Carrick has moulded the 21-year-old into a mature, confident all-round midfield man who loves to be on the ball and loves to drive his side forward. He makes Boro better when he gets on the ball.
