McLAUGHLIN: "I'VE ENJOYED BEING OUT THERE"

Former Fleetwood star man Conor McLaughlin has spoke ahead of this weekend’s clash with Crewe as well as reflecting on the battle against his former employers and his recent run of fine form.

“Everything is going well for us at the minute and we need to step it up and score goals which we did. They made it hard for us, we can’t come out and start games like that but we eventually got off the mark, that being said we’ve been on fire from the start in the past few games. The clean sheet is always a bonus, that’s our job as defenders and if we do that right, we have the players further up the pitch that can do damage. It starts from the front so the strikers and midfielders have been brilliant and it makes it a real team effort, Dion Sanderson was fantastic for us and Lee Burge didn’t have much to do which is only a good thing. Fleetwood have been a bit of a bogey team for us recently but it was good to get the win and see a few old faces too, I had five good years there and it was nice to see some old faces. It was good to keep our run going; we need to concentrate on ourselves now. I’ve enjoyed being out on the pitch, I be played in a back three earlier in the season even though my natural position is right back, but I’m happy to just be on the pitch. We need to make sure we start better against Crewe because it’s going to be a difficult game, they all are but we need to focus and get on with the job.”
