Both Lee Burge and Charlie Wyke have reflected on the weekend’s result against Doncaster and previewed this week’s EFL Trophy semi-final clash with League 1 high-flyers Lincoln.
BURGE ON SAVING THE DAY
“Yeah it was a great feeling just to save one penalty let alone two. We deserved it, especially after our first half performance, we always do our research on their penalty takers and it paid off. There’s a lot of research involved, I always have a sheet before the game and I have to study that and we pulled off the heroics! It was nice to help the team out in any way possible, I’ve enjoyed this season and recently it hasn’t been as good as it has been but it was good to get back to winning. It’s so important being solid at the back but it’s about producing the quality up front is good too. It was a massive result and we just have to keep playing like that against our direct competitors. We need to set the standard early in every game; every game is a cup final. Lincoln this week will be massive and every cup game is a great chance to get to Wembley and hopefully we can go on and win it!”
WYKE REFLECTS ON HITTING DONNY FOR 4!
“Yeah obviously I’m absolutely buzzing to score four goals, but more important is the three points, especially after the week we’ve had, it was good to bounce back like that. Doncaster are a good team so it really is a great result. They’re up there for a reason and they’ll be up there at the end of the season. The balls coming in the box have been brilliant and I’m getting on the end of them, so long may it continue! I’ve got a great relationship with Geads and I know exactly what he’s going to do so that’s always a bonus. First time I’ve scored four so if you’d told me that before the game then I would’ve snapped your hand off! The gaffer is good and he’s been fantastic for me, we do a lot of research on teams before hand and hopefully we can be right up there towards the end of the season, we’ve got a few games in hand so we need to start building from here. We got the pressing right today and got the win, we’re looking forward to playing Lincoln, we want to win the Trophy so it’s massive for us.”
