LATEST ROUNDUP

This is hardly a roundup, because there's only one story on everyone's lips today. Although Sunderland are still without a manager, there has been a development which makes things very interesting!

STILL LEAVES REIMS

Will Still's name has been heard on Wearside ever since Tony Mowbray departed. Much had been made of his expensive buy-out clause which would have made him one of history's most expensive managers, had Sunderland acquired his services. However, today it was announced that the 31-year-old has stepped down from his role at Reims with immediate effect. Now a free agent, Sunderland may well look to swoop in - especially as his brother and assistant Nicolas Still will also leave the club. A video went viral where, in a team talk, Still was able to switch instantly between French and English while talking to his players. That would be particularly beneficial in Sunderland's squad which has a mixture of young English talent like Dan Neil, Anthony Patterson and Chris Rigg, and a French collective with Adil Aouchiche, Pierre Ekwah and Adboullah Ba to name a few.

Reims’ club statement said: “Following a meeting held this morning between president Jean-Pierre Caillot, general manager Mathieu Lacour and Head Coach Will Still, it was mutually agreed that the two parties would not continue the sporting adventure together next season.

“In view of this decision and in order to allow Stade de Reims to look forward to the next financial year, it has also been decided that Will Still and his assistant Nicolas Still will step down from their respective duties as of today.”

Still added: “I will be eternally grateful to Stade de Reims as well as everyone involved directly or indirectly with the club. I would like to thank in particular all the players with whom I was able to work, all the technical, performance, analytical, medical staff as well as the stewards, but also and above all all the supporters of this wonderful club. Our 19-match unbeaten streak last season as well as the spectacular matches at Delaune will remain unique moments for me.”
