Phil Parkinson has been named as League One manager of the month for January, during which we won four and drew two, with big wins against Wycombe (4-0) and Lincoln (3-1). Parkinson said: “We’ve had a good run of results and the performance level has been excellent. We’ve got ourselves in the mix and that was the intention, but now the hard work really does start. The things that have really helped us are the work ethic on the training pitch, getting a real pattern of play to our game and consistent team selection. It was a bit frustrating for the lads that haven’t been in the team, but they’ve been fantastic and I do think that’s been a key factor. When you go with the same team for quite a while, the others who are out of the team are so important and they’ve driven the standards on in training.”

In other news, with Jon McLaughlin, Chris Maguire, Duncan Watmore, Joel Lynch, Tom Flanagan, Alim Ozturk, Ethan Robson, and Benji Kimpioka all out of contract in the summer, Phil Parkinson will be addressing the issue in the coming weeks. He explained: "We wanted to get the transfer window out of the way and I am pleased it has not closed, because you spend so much time talking to agent, watching games, on your laptop looking at players, meeting after meeting, etc. The job now is to integrate the new players into the way we are playing and to get them up to speed in terms of match sharpness. But as far as the lads who are out of contract are concerned, I'm sure the chairman and will sit down with me and the rest of the staff in the next few weeks and we will have a discussion."
