CAMBRIDGE GET THE BLUES


The latest installment of our chase for a play-off place saw mid-table Cambridge visit Wearside, with us second only to Sheff Wed in the form table (on goal difference), and Cambridge fifth, only two points behind us. It's no exaggeration to say our five goals could easily have been ten, such was our dominance. I know it helps immensely when an opponent is sent off early on, but you have to take advantage of that - and we did. A Stewart brace and one from Embo basically had the game won by halftime, and a first for Batth and another for Broadhead sealed things. The only downside was an early injury for Winchester, but Doyle showed that he's up to the task of filling in.

After the short, breathless break between the Easter games, we’ve had a whole five days to recover from the Plymouth trip – all 22 hours of it. Thankfully we managed to get through that weekend with no further injuries, other than bumps and bruises, to hinder our progress, but could really have done with Pritch having recovered for our Devon date. His sparkly style, standing out like a clean glass in a sink full of dirty dishes, could well have been the positive difference between us and the Pilgrims, so his availability this weekend could be crucial. Oh, and Geads is back in proper training – just in time for some potentially huge games. While we’ve been hastily rearranging holidays and checking London hotels for May 21st, all the while scanning the various permutations and possible finishing positions – with a return to Home Park in the semis a possibility should we achieve a play-off place – other more privileged
