BATTH POST BRADFORD

Danny Batth was one of the players who played the full game tonight and he gave his perspective on how things unfolded out there on the pitch in the hottest day in UK history.

BELOW PAR

“Obviously on the positive side of it everyone got 90 minutes and no injuries but in terms of the performance and the basics we've done well as a group in the last six months I thought we were below par today. The duels, the running, I think we were a bit short tonight and Bradford as a result won the game.”

THE HEAT

“It's been hot but we’ve not long been back from Portugal so we've played in that heat recently and it was the same for both teams but we have to move on quickly and look at what went wrong. We're not too far away from the start of the season now so competing and tactical awareness are things we need to brush up on there as a result of that performance.”

OFF SEASON

“I don't think too many players have too long off now. Obviously we had the play-offs so we were later than most groups so I’m guessing most of the lads similar to myself had a week or two off and then you're picking straight up from where you left off and you're back in to the run in before you know it and here we are. It does fly by and it's down to us as a group to make sure we’re fit and raring to go at the start of the season.”

DEFENSIVE SIGNINGS

“I think it's the group's job to make sure they settle in as quickly as possible. Both relatively young so more of the senior lads like myself and the group we've got it’s up to us to make sure they’re settled and feel part of the group going into the season.”

KEY TO SUCCESS

“Fitness and continuity. I know there's been mixed teams and players in and out and perhaps not playing in natural positions but the basis is fitness and then listen to the manager and take on board what he says and try and improve in training.”
