AFC WIMBLEDON FAN ON RUDONI

After multiple reports of us trying to sign AFC Wimbledon’s 21 year old midfielder Jack Rudoni, we decided to get in touch with SW19’s Army to find out more information on our potential signing.

Looking at it from afar, his statistics were impressive when you take into consideration how Wimbledon’s season went, but behind the stats what impresses you most about him?

When so many players had their heads down and wanted to be elsewhere, he was at least trying to keep his side of the bargain up. There's always one player in a relegation season who stands out because they looked like they gave a damn, and Rudoni is our version of that. He faded a bit towards the end of the Mark Robinson tenure, but just about everyone did.

One could be cynical and suggest he wanted to put on a good display so he would get a better transfer out in the summer, but I wouldn't blame him for that.

What style of football does he play?

He's not the paciest, and he did miss a few sitters that perhaps somebody with a bit more experience would have scored. He does know where the goal is, which at AFCW last season was a case of the one-eyed man being King.

If you had to compare his style to another player who would you say he emulates?

One of our local press guys compared him to Keane Lewis-Potter, who is now being looked at by the likes of Brentford and Wolves.

Having only just turned 21 recently, he has a long career ahead of him but how far do you think he can go?

Whether he'd ever reach the Premier League I don't know, if he did then he would need to be a part of a Brentford/Bournemouth type squad who have grown together and propelled themselves into the top flight. As said above, his attitude isn't in question, and I expect he'll be a regular at a second tier club once he settles in.

What would be considered as a good price for Rudoni?

We're supposedly after £1m minimum, which would be decent for him. That said, I think it will end up being lower but with some add-ons which will be worth as much to us as an upfront fee. He's out of contract this time next year, so I fully expect he'll be gone.

Would you say he’s ready for the step up into the Championship?

Possibly, he held his own in a League One side that was, to be blunt, awful for too long of the season. If he does go into the second tier, he might need a bit of patience as he adapts. There will be very few players I will be sad to see the back of last season, but Rudoni would be one of them.
