Burge Arrives

Sunderland have brought in a new goalkeeper Lee Burge. The 26 year former Coventry City stopper has signed a two-year deal and is hopefully not a replacement for Jon McLaughlin, who has been linked with a move to Championship side Millwall after impressing last season.

 

Burge said: “This is a club that can offer me everything I want, and the stature of the club is incredible. As a player, you want to train at the best facilities and play in the best stadiums, and this is by far the best place I have experienced. I just can’t wait to get going.”

 

Jack Ross, added: “I’m delighted to welcome Lee to Sunderland AFC. It was an area we were looking to strengthen, and as you can see from his record, he boasts a wealth of experience within the Football League. Throughout the last 12 months we have worked hard to bring the right type of players to the club, and I’m sure Lee will fit seamlessly into the group

At the back end of the 1980s, football fanzines began to sweep the country and in 1989 we were presented with a new vehicle on which to enjoy some of this ride – A Love Supreme. ALS was a place we could all go to celebrate and commiserate being a Sunderland fan. Win, lose or draw, the pages of the fanzine became solace for many of us as we stumbled our way through our day to day lives, punctuated by the ups and downs of more match days than any of us care to remember.
