Takeover: Mid-June

American businessman Mark Campbell is set to become the new majority shareholder of Sunderland AFC, with Stewart Donald and Juan Sartori cashing in a large percentage of their shares and taking home a tidy profit.

The deal, which was agreed in principle in early May, is expected to go through the week beginning June 17, in good time for the club to put their house in order and strengthen the squad appropriately for a serious promotion challenge.

Mark Campbell, who was at the Play Off Final at Wembley alongside Donald, Methven and Sartori, will hold 64% of SAFC, with Donald reducing his share from 74% to 20%. Juan Sartori will also decrease his shareholding from 20% to 10%, however Charlie Methven will retain his 6% share and is expected to continue his role in the day to running of the club.

Campbell will bring in John Park as Director of Football to work alongside Jack Ross next season, with Tony Coton leaving the club. Park was a great success in a similar role at Celtic.
