Following our woeful defending against Coventry Grant Leadbitter has called for calm! “We’ve got five games to go, and we know what we have to do. We really do have to stay calm in situations like this. I’ve been here before, I’m an experienced player, and it’s all about getting our heads down and staying calm because there’s a long, long way to go. There’ll be plenty of twists and turns, but there’s no doubt about the character we have here. The club has taken a battering (in recent seasons), the players have taken a battering, but this is a strong dressing room. It’s about everyone staying together and being right at it.”

In other news, Josh Maja has been chatting about life in Bordeaux, where he’s made just six appearances, four from the bench, and is yet to score. He said: “It was a decision I made because it was the best for me. I don’t play to please people apart from me and my family. I want to be the best I can be and it was the right time to move. I know they are going to be upset but they should respect that it’s my life. People have been really on my back. They have a right to their opinion but for me it wasn’t easy. Of course they showed loyalty to me and I am grateful for that but I’ve got ambitions and to achieve them I needed to move. I could have gone to the Premier League but it would have been very difficult for me to get a lot of game time because a lot of young players in the league don’t get as much as they should. You need to be already proven or otherwise you won’t get an opportunity. Around France you see a lot of young players starting every week. Maybe they’re too comfortable, they don’t want the challenge. For me it was a risk I wanted to take, I wanted to be challenged. I wasn’t surprised but the tempo is slower. There is a necessity for technique and a good brain, which is the biggest difference so far between here and England.”

Meanwhile, despite the disgraceful behaviour of Coventry fans on Saturday, there were only eight arrests involving their scum fans at the SOL. The police and stewards really need to get a grip.

Finally, the English Sunday papers are linking Jack Ross with WBA and media north of the border believe he’d be interested managing the Scotland national team!
