Jack Baldwin is hoping that his form in the run up to the Checkatrade Trophy final will earn him a place in the starting line up.

“We had the Boxing Day crowd here (46,039 versus Bradford City), that’s probably the biggest I have played in front of,” said Baldwin. “It will be double that at Wembley. I would like to think we have a squad of players who can rise to the occasion. I have not had that many huge games, in my first season at Peterborough we got to the play-off semi-finals. We came off the wrong side of those (beaten by Leyton Orient in 2014). I felt like I did well in those, so it would be nice to come off the winning side this time. The manager will field what he feels is his strongest team in the cup final. I would like to think I have given him positive vibes. On the training ground it will be a blank canvas. It has been a tough couple of league games conditions wise, the strength in depth we have at the club in a number of positions – five centre-backs for example – (means) it is an even more competitive place than it was at the start of the season. You just have to keep going, work hard and hope to start. In tough conditions I felt I have done well. Whatever competition is, to say you have played in a crowd that big at Wembley, hopefully we will win, then it is going to be an occasion, especially when you think this club has had a bad couple of seasons,” Baldwin argued. “It should be a great occasion and one people here might not have had for a while. It’s a final and a chance to go there and try to celebrate.”

ALS was a place we could all go to celebrate and commiserate being a Sunderland fan. Win, lose or draw, the pages of the fanzine became solace for many of us as we stumbled our way through our day to day lives, punctuated by the ups and downs of more match days than any of us care to remember.
