Ch, Ch, Ch, Ch, Changes

Jon McLaughlin will stay with Sunderland this week, despite a late scare in the Scotland set up, caused by an injury to Craig Gordon. Thankfully, Scott Bain has been drafted in.

Meanwhile, McLaughlin will be rested and replaced by Robbin Ruiter in the Checkatrade Trophy at Morecambe on Tuesday night, with Jack Ross set to rotate his squad. Bryan Oviedo, Alim Ozturk and Glenn Loovens are set to start at the back and Max Power, Luke O’Nien will get a run out in the middle of the park. “We’ll make a lot of changes for Tuesday,” Ross said. “It was 5pm on Sunday when we were leaving Port Vale, so it’s obviously not long until we play again. We’ve only had one day to prepare for the Morecambe game, so within the rules of the competition, we’ll make significant changes to the team.”
