Morning After Thoughts

THE GOOD

Very tricky from this game!

Burton real ales – quality!

Maguire gave us a different dimension when he came on, capped with a nice strike for his goal

Another sold out away following, class support

We’re in a playoff position, and no reason to panic at this stage of the season

THE BAD

Sadly, plenty to go off here.

Flanagan must start. Not sure if he wasn’t ready but, thought he had to start the game for extra height if nothing else. Also, Matthews had looked poor previously. I would have gone three centre backs, two wing backs.

We started OK. After the initial exchanges, Burton started to take hold of the game. They won most second balls, were faster and more physical than us. There doesn’t seem to be anyone in the first X1 who can organize the team ‘in-game’.

Another goal lost to a very simple set piece. If we can’t sort this out, we will really struggle for automatic promotion.

Bar the spell we had around our goal, the team seemed to panic after Burton came back into it. Far too many aimless high balls to Maja – no contest against their centre backs. With Wyke off injured, no point in that whatsoever.

Passing in general was hurried and pretty poor throughout the game. Badly missed McGeouch for his composure on the ball and passing, as well as Power’s athleticism and energy going box to box.

THE UGLY

Charlie Wyke, well be crocked for a period of time after being stretchered off following a horror tackle.
