Jack Ross Set To Join...

Steward Donald said this morning that we'll know the name of our new manager by the end of the day and it is now being reported that Jack Ross has agreed terms with SAFC after St Mirren gave permission for Sunderland to speak to Ross. The 41 year old, who is one of the most highly rated and sort after managers in Scotland is expected to fill the hot-seat vacated by Chris Coleman and begin the massive rebuild here at Sunderland. "On the manager front, we’ve agreed a deal this morning", said Donald. "We’re just drawing up contracts now. Hopefully there’ll be news soon. We've agreed terms and literally the contracts are with the lawyers. The man in question is absolutely thrilled, which is what we want, and I'm absolutely delighted that he's coming, so that's exciting for us. I'm absolutely jumping up and down this morning. There's a lot to do and we've got to move quickly and get ourselves organised. It's a big job but that manager will have without doubt the biggest budget in the league."

Former St Mirren winger Lewis Morgan was full of praise for his former gaffer but reckons 'The Buddies' will do OK without him: "It would be a massive blow if he leaves because of all the work Jack has done at St Mirren," said Morgan. "To have accomplished what he has has been incredible. But at the same time, the club has the potential and everything is in place for them to be progressive this year. I'm sure they will have something in mind if the manager goes. They will be thinking about it now and planning for it. It would be better if he did stay, but if not I'm sure St Mirren will be OK."

It may not be over the line just yet though as St Mirren chairman Gordon Scott reckons the news that Jack Ross is set to be announced as SAFC manager is complete bullshit: "I've just heard these claims reported on talkSPORT. There has been no contact from Sunderland with us and Jack is on holiday”, insists Scott. "So unless there is some major skulduggery (ed - class word) going on then it’s nonsense. To hold talks with Jack, there we would have to grant permission, as has been the case with Ipswich and Barnsley recently. But we've had no contact from Sunderland at all."

It's never dull being a Sunderland fan is it?
