My Team For Tuesday

With Jack Ross struggling to find a team that can finish games off, I try to create the winning formula for a cold Tuesday night under the lights.

GK: Jon McLaughlin: The Scottish shot stopper is obviously the first name on the team sheet for Ross.

RB: Luke O’Nien: O’Nien retakes his spot at fullback following Matthews’ struggles coming back from injury.

CB: Jimmy Dunne: The Burnley loanee has looked solid so far since signing in January, and finally added some physicality to attacking corners against Oxford.

CB: Tom Flanagan: Tom to come back into the side, replacing Baldwin. Some would argue that it was harsh to drop the versatile defender for the trip to Oxford.

LB: Reece James: Continuing to keep one of the highest earners out of the team, James has been solid recently and adds more defensive solidity.

CM: Grant Leadbitter: The childhood SAFC Fan has impressed since re-signing in January and has been the most successful of the midfield options.

CM: Dylan McGeough: This was the most difficult spot in the team. Max Power has been quiet recently, and I feel as though the combination of McGeouch and Leadbitter will help blend passing range, energy, tenacious tackling and defensive solidity.

RM: Lewis Morgan: The January signing has showed positive signs so far, proving a handful for defenders. Also, very ambipedal, I didn’t realise he was left footed until he took a corner against Wimbledon!

LM: Aiden McGeady: Our only creative spark recently and is un-droppable. Even when it isn’t quite going right for him, the winger has the ability to torture any League One defence.

ST: Will Grigg: The striker lacked service in his debut, but in a home game where we’ll control possession, he should hopefully have more chances.

ST: Charlie Wyke: Despite being poor recently, Wyke’s hold up play was decent when he came on against Oxford. Hopefully a partner up front can ease the burden off of Wyke in his return to the side.

*Disclaimer* If Will Grigg and co don’t fire on all cylinders straight away, the most important thing is that we don’t get in the player’s backs.
