A Fair Point?

There’s been a fair share of negativity recently surrounding some of the performances we’ve put in lately. An equaliser in the last minutes of the match on Saturday held us to a 1-1 draw with Oxford following another disappointing performance.

Lots of fans, including myself, have questioned Jack Ross’ tactics recently as we seem to be limited to one goal a game. With the attacking capability and squad depth we have this season it seems ridiculous that we can only score once. Chris Maguire, a player who would probably start for some Championship sides, didn’t even have a spot on the bench for yesterday’s game against his former club. [if !supportLineBreakNewLine] [endif]

Now Jack Ross seems to be content to stay with the 4-5-1 setup, which has worked for managers in the past for sure, but it clearly isn’t bringing the best out of some of our players. Charlie Wyke has been criticised for being poor but when he’s being constantly man marked out of the game by two central defenders you have to sympathise for the lad. He’s clearly a decent striker at this level, scoring 15 goals last season for Bradford, but he’s virtually made to run onto loose balls at the minute which isn’t working. With three home games in a week, hopefully Jack Ross is open to changing his formation and tactics. Some supporters are praying for two strikers to start and some exciting football to watch as it’s been pretty tedious lately. A successful transfer window has brought in some very useful players, with Lewis Morgan and Grant Leadbitter already looking good and Will Grigg destined to score soon.

Too many draws could be costly in the run in for promotion and this form poor cannot continue. However, there’s still plenty of time to go and endless opportunities to pick up points, we should have every bit of faith that Jack Ross can pick a system that will work.
