Wolves Smashed

Sunderland's miserable Championship finally came to a close with a remarkable 3 – 0 victory over Champions Wolverhampton Wanderers at the SOL on Sunday lunchtime. First half goals from Ovie Ejaria and Ashley Fletcher and a second half strike from Paddy McNair sealed an unlikely victory over the Premier League bound visitors whose fans headed to Wearside in party mode while their players played in holiday mode...

Robbie Stockdale was made up afterwards and had this to say: “I spoke in the week about what it should mean to play today and to a man they followed the instructions we gave them. It isn’t going to paper over the cracks of the season that we’ve had but I asked them to finish it in the right manner and I think we did that. We need the fans and we want to make them happy. There was a good atmosphere in the ground today and the fans fed off the performance and the players did the same the other way. There will be a lot of change at this club for sure. Hopefully things can turn around and we can start moving in the right direction again. I asked the players before they went out if someone was coming to watch for the first time today, whether it be the oldest one in John O’Shea or the youngest in Bali Mumba, what impression do you want to leave them with? I think everyone went away with positive thoughts of our lads today.”

John O'Shea was subbed off to great applause towards the end of the game and was quite candid afterwards. "My contract is also up at the end of the season and at this moment my future remains unclear," said O'Shea. "If this is my final game with the club, the only thing I can say is thank you. Throughout my time here the supporters have been nothing short of outstanding, and you've stood by the team whether we've deserved it or not. When I signed a one-year deal last summer I was determined to play my part in taking the club back where it belongs. For many reasons, that hasn't happened. But whatever the future holds for me personally, I sincerely hope that everything that makes this club so special shines through on and off the pitch. I might not be back but Sunderland will be. Thanks for the support. We're all aware that it's been a big week off the pitch and hopefully last weekend's news signals the start of a bright future for the club."

To celebrate being complete and utter shite once again, we’re bringing bring back this classic t-shirt from the 05/06 season. Looking back to those halcyon days under Mick McCarthy when we managed to amass an incredible 15 points to see us relegated from the Premier League.

Don’t worry we will reach those lofty heights again but until then we can take comfort in the fact that we’re all... still here when we are shit! Hardcore fans and Sunderland till we die, whichever league we are in and whoever owns the club. Players, manager and chairman come and go. Fans remain. We are the club… click here to view product
