What was your pre-match predictions for the game (honestly)?
1-1 in a hard fought contest.

Was the 3-0 score line a fair result in your eyes?
No, we should have won by more. Whilst I was disappointed with Sunderland’s display, it pleased my as a Wigan fan to see our team playing so well.

Even with me being a Sunderland fan I felt you should have had at least two penalties before you actually were awarded one, what did you think of Mike Riley’s performance?
He was poor for both sides. He bottled most of the penalty decisions and spoilt the flow of the game with his constant whistling. If he never referee’s us again it will be too soon.

Are you happy with your strike force of Heskey and Sibierski because they seemed to torture us at times?
Very pleased with them although if either were to get injured I’m not sure how our reserves would fare. Heskey was superb last season and if he scored more goals would be in the England squad. He doesn’t get the credit he deserves because of his lack of goals. As for the Sib, he’s on fire at the moment despite not being match fit. Bargain of the summer?

How did you feel being top of the league, albeit for not very long? Is that a testament to Chris Hutchings as a manager or just early season luck?
A mixture of both I think. Hutch has started very well and has the team playing good football. He made some quality additions over the summer and they have settled in very well. He is also getting the best out of the fringe players we had here last term.

How do rate ex-Sunderland player Kevin Kilbane?
He’s a good squad player but not sure if he should be in the team every week. Zinedine’s performances have been much more consistent this season, and although he is weak defensively at left back, he could have well found a new position.

Boro played you before us at the JJB, who has the better fans?
Wigan of course :-P

Are you optimistic for the rest of the season? Whereabouts do you think you’ll finish?
After such a good start I can’t help but be optimistic. It is still early days however and I would take 17 th now.

Who was your best player?
Emile Heskey - again.

Who was your worst player?
Paul Scharner, two average games in a row.

What did you think of Sunderland’s performance?
Awful. I didn’t think a Roy Keane side would ever lack heart and passion but Sunderland did on Saturday.

Who was our best player?
Michael Chopra – looked dangerous.

Who was our worst player?
Paul McShane – the worst player to ever take the field in the Premiership, what a donkey.

Where do you think we’ll finish this season?
If Chopra can get the goals you should be okay, if not then I would be worried.
