Name: Wyart Lane
Age (If you want): 47
How long you’ve supported Spurs: 40 years
What was your pre-match predictions for the game (honestly)?
2-1 to Spurs.
Was the 1-0 score line a fair result in your eyes?
Well, on the amount of chances yes, on possession no, but it is what you do with it that counts !!
On a scale of 1 to 10 how heart-breaking was it to concede in the dying seconds?
(10 being the worst)
You will be pleased to hear that it was a Spinal Tap gutting 11, but perhaps after Murphy’s last minute equaliser last time at your place, a more expected 5.
Are you optimistic for the rest of the season? Whereabouts do you think you’ll finish? With the start we have had it is no better nor worse than last season, so fifth should be on the cards, but a UEFA Cup position of some sort should be within the team’s capability. Champions League is still out of our reach just now.
Who was your best player?
I thought Kaboul had a very good full debut.
Who was your worst player?
I know you would like me to say Jenas, but it was probably Stalteri.
What did you think of Sunderland’s performance?
OK. Lacked a little bit of passion, which is what you would normally expect from a newly promoted team (especially one managed by Roy Keane), but fairly solid. I think you caught us on one of our less than spectacular days, when there were too many players playing under par.
Who was our best player?
McShane. Ate up all the rubbish balls we threw up front, but looked a good buy for you.
Who was our worst player?
Would have liked to have seen more of Edwards, who was pretty quiet, but Stokes had been hyped up as a scoring machine, but looked least likely to do so.
Where do you think we’ll finish this season?
Above the bottom three which is where you want to be.
Your predictions for:
Premier League:
Before the first three games I would have said Manchester United. After the first three games, I should say Manchester City, but I think Chelsea (unfortunately) will be stung by losing out last season and go on to take the title, although Liverpool look a good outside bet.
FA Cup:
Who knows what sort of teams will be played by the top sides? It will probably be one of the top four, with Spurs as an outsider.
Carling Cup:
Who knows what sort of teams will be played by the top sides? It will probably be one of the top four, with Manchester City as an outsider.
Relegation:
Birmingham City, Derby County, Bolton Wanderers
Please rate the following 1 to 10 (10 being the best):
Atmosphere:
7/10 (after the goal); 5 before it
Your fans:
8/10 (travelling the distance for an early kick off televised game)
Our fans:
7/10 (the roar was only occasionally in evidence)
Your team:
4/10
Our team:
4/10
Stadium of Light:
8/10 (well appointed and good views)
Who’d win in a fight? Martin Jol or Roy Keane? And why?
Jol would have the weight and reach advantage. He’s patted me on the back before and nearly knocked me flying!! Keane would be good with the close body work, but I think Jol would edge it.
Final thoughts...
Good luck for the coming season (our game excepted). I think you need a little bit more quality, but thank your lucky stars you didn’t get Mido!!
Thanks for your time
