fresh from the sol

Name: Steve Guscott
Age (If you want): No thanks
How long you’ve supported the club: Forever.

What was your pre-match predictions for the game (honestly)?
I thought we would get a draw.

Was the 2-1 score line a fair result in your eyes? What do you think it should have been?
More than fair, we didn’t start playing until long after you scored the second goal.

The game marked the tragic death of Sunderland legend Ian Porterfield, what did you make of the way his life was celebrated?
Great tribute. Well done Sunderland.

How did you rate Porterfield as a player?
His playing career was a bit before my time but he was obviously a legend for Sunderland.

He managed briefly at Reading, was he a decent manager? He was at the club during a very hard time, and oversaw the team when Madejski took over as chairman so things were difficult for him. I’m sure he would have been the first to admit that his spell as manager at Elm Park was not succesful.

I felt Sunderland should have wrapped the game up long before you scored, would you agree with that?
Hard not too.

Kenwyne Jones made his home debut, scoring one and making one, do you think he’s justifying his hefty price tag?
I laughed as hard as the rest of the Premiership when you paid £6m for him, but more performances like that and he will be having the last laugh. Not sure he is consistant enough though.

Anyways are you optimistic for the rest of the season? Whereabouts do you think you’ll finish?
I’m not that optimistic really, reckon we will be involved in a relegation scrap but will ultimately survive.

Who was your best player?
Dave Kitson.

Who was your worst player?

As usual one of Murty, Gunnarsson or Hahnemann.

What did you think of Sunderland’s performance?
Not bad but we made it easy for you!

Who was our best player?

Kenwyne Jones I suppose.

Who was our worst player?
Too busy slating our players to find time to assess yours!

Where do you think we’ll finish this season?
Not to far behind us.

Your predictions for:

Premier League:

Man Utd

FA Cup:
Arsenal

Carling Cup:
Arsenal

Relegation:

At the start of the season I said Bolton, Derby and Wigan. Nothing I have seen so far changes my opinion.

Please rate the following 1 to 10 (10 being the best):

Atmosphere:
7/10

Your fans:
4/10

Our fans:
6/10

Your team:
A generous 1/10

Our team:
6/10

Stadium of Light:
6/10

Who’d win in a fight? Steve Coppell or Roy Keane? And why?

Keane obviously looks like an easy winner in this fight but Coppell’s tactical genius would win through!

Final Thoughts...
No thanks, I just want to forget this game!

Thanks for your time
