who needs cantona? eh? boro craic...
fresh from smogland

Name: Ben Glass
Age (If you want): 32
How long you’ve supported the club: About 28 of my 32 years.

What was your pre-match predictions for the game (honestly)?
I thought a hard fought win for the Boro.

Was the 2-2 score line a fair result in your eyes? What do you think the score should have been?
Afterwards I thought we should have won, we had more of the ball and more chances. I think looking back 2-1 would have been about right.

Admittedly you were the better side but how did you feel after we’d took the lead?
I thought here we go again re 2005.

Obviously Arca had to score against us, what did you make of his performance before his injury?
He was looking good as ever, he links well with Rochemback in centre midfield. A very good footballer indeed, never looks rushed and does the simple things well.

Another ex Sunderland player Stewart Downing got on the score sheet, do you think he has the credentials to be England’s first choice left-winger?
I honestly believe he is the best left sided Englishmen in the game. He has had a good start to the season and I think he will go on from here to firmly establish himself in that role.

Liam Miller came on and bagged a beauty, do you think it was deserved?
Not deserved but not totally surprised by his goal, Sunderland never gave up the fight and we lacked the killer touch.

Local lads Leadbitter and Cattermole seemed to get into a bit of a tussle, do you think the emotions of a derby had got to them?
Yes they play with an equal amount of passion. It was good to see local lads playing with pride and a little bit of niggle, in these days of the foreign import.

Did you see or experience any violence at the game?
Not personally, I did hear of a few pockets of trouble outside the ground after the game.

Anyways are you optimistic for the rest of the season? Whereabouts do you think you’ll finish?
I think we will finish 12 th same as last year. We look better as an attacking unit but we lack a clinical finisher.

Who was your best player?
Gary O’Neil cracking home debut.

Who was your worst player?
Andrew Taylor our young left back, he looked tad shaky.

What did you think of Sunderland’s performance?
Not bad not good. Plus point was the spirit and fight of the players. You should be OK this season.

Who was our best player?
Kenwyne Jones looked lively I thought.

Who was our worst player?
Dwight Yorke, he used to be a quick and lively centre forward. He looked on Saturday a shadow of his former self.

Where do you think we’ll finish this season?

Who’d win in a fight? Gareth Southgate or Roy Keane? And why?
I think this would be the classic “boxer and the brawler” Gareth would be standing up straight in a classic boxers stance but keano would just kick him in the nuts.

Last words...
Fair play to your fans, as I never heard any of the disgusting pedo or racist chanting, that the scumbags up the road subjected us to last month. I just hope the whole pedo chanting thing can be laid to rest now.
